At Surfside Electrical (WA) we like to set ourselves apart from other Solar Power Installers. Our aim is to create the best possible outcome for our customers. We don’t use a sales team and we don’t contract out our installations — Andrew will work with you throughout the whole process, he will help select the right system and install it himself. At Surfside Electrical (WA) we are Clean Energy Council Accreditation and service all our usual areas.
While the technology behind solar energy may seem complicated, when it’s broken down, solar power is easy to understand — particularly in a grid connect scenario as it only requires a few components installed in your home or business.
Solar Photovoltaic (PV) panels on the roofs of homes and businesses use energy from the sun to generate electricity cleanly and quietly. The sun shines on the solar panels generating DC electricity. The DC electricity is fed into a solar inverter that converts it to 240V 50Hz AC electricity. This 240V AC electricity is used to power appliances in your home. Any surplus electricity is fed back into the main grid.
If a grid connect system is producing more power than is being consumed, the surplus is fed back to the mains power grid. Some electricity companies will meter the electricity fed into the grid by your system and provide a credit on your bill.
Solar doesn’t generate electricity all the time, but it does generate electricity when it is needed most — during the day and during hot sunny periods when the demand for power is at its peak. When the solar cells are not producing power your power is supplied by the mains power grid as usual. The energy retailer charges the usual rate for the power used.
In WA rebates are no longer given to households installing roof top solar power systems. However they do offer an incentive via Small-scale Technology Certificates (STC’s) that help reduce the upfront cost of installing your solar PV system. The value of STCs your system receives differs depending on its size and location. To be eligible for STCs, your solar system must be installed by Clean Energy Council accredited installer like Surfside Electrical (WA).
